Background
I arrived in France in September 2001 on a student visa, to study French. I was immediately transfixed by Paris: echoes of "Bonjour" in the morning, the architectural details of apartment doors and colors of bonbons in bakeries. I was smiling while allowing myself to get lost in narrow alleys, searching for boutiques with no signs. Mesmerized by the people, I put sightseeing on hold to simply watch them walk by, making mental notes of their fashion style. That was the day I realized fashion was really special in France and I wanted to be a part of it.
I watched how they tied a simple scarf to make a statement and unafraid to combine textures and prints for a casual look. Paris gave me courage to step out on my own and rethink how I wore clothing. I began to understand how a simplified wardrobe allows you to cherish the pieces you have. I saw how bags are made, how the same dress can be worn eight ways, and that the one stand-out coat I bought in France 16 years ago, still gives me warm memories. The values I discovered that year, are with me today and influence how I consult, style and shop for clients. I want to offer my compatriots the same experience I had in France - of culture, of inspiration, of fashion and discovery of self.
As a stylist for seven years and creator of two virtual Euro Shop trips in France, I have exercised independence as an entrepreneur promoting French philosophy of style that influenced me and my career.
I am confident you will find, after reading this proposal and understanding my work that the passion & success in my career and hobbies, along with hard work and a love for France equates to a valuable, growing enterprise and a beneficial cultural & professional investment for both the French and Americans.
